I enjoyed reading this page and I thank you for sharing! I teach a group of Japanese women ages 30's to 50's and we're currently at a hump in the road. A few of them have lived in the USA and many of them are quite fluent. I recently lost one student who always seemed to be lost in translation. I still have one student who, although her English is very limited, tries very hard. It's somewhat frustrating because they're all at different levels of learning and they all have different needs. Some of my material is super easy to the advanced students and then when I try to do something that will cater to them, it causes my other students to withdraw. I've asked them for the third time now to make their needs/expectations/goals known to me so that we both can be happy. This group is a few years old and has a great reputation. I don't want to be the cause of its downfall. I'm considering investing in an ESL online program. What do you think?
